TO MY DADDY (I Love You)
I was learning how to be strong, when I
wanted to quit
I was learning how to stand up, when it
was much easier for me to sit
And when life got real rough and believe
me, it sure did
When I was at the end of my rope
That’s when I found out what you hid
(Testimonial Note: "It was this poem that
made me call my daddy and make
amends with him after refusing to allow
him to be in my life for years. We are
now a joyful part of each other's life. You
helped me experience that life is just too
short. Thanks for your poem Jerome.")

OUR MIGHTY ARMED FORCES
And when the fight is over and you are
headed home
When all the celebration dies down and
you’re just standing all alone
Remember, you didn’t have to go, you
had the options to make other choices
I just want to thank you men and women

SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT
Am I striving for perfection? No, I’m not
even close
I just want to do His will, so I can get that
spiritual dose
But there were times of disappointment
and there were times of doubt
And if it were not for His covering, you
would have clearly found me out

OUR AFRICAN-AMERICAN SONS
(The Legacy Of Our Black-Male Youth)
Too many kids are making babies, too
many are selling drugs
Too many are hating women, because
they lack their parents' love
This cycle is pervasive and it is only
growing stronger
Our society should be ashamed of itself,
if it allows this to go on any longer.

So whether you’re White, Black or Other,
and you live in this land
Whether you agree or disagree or you
don’t completely understand
We all need to stand up for injustice, and
we don’t need to do it with violence
Because evil can only prosper in this
world, when good people choose to keep
silent.
